The Mary River National Park is home to an abundance of birdlife, all at the front doorstep of Wildman Wilderness Lodge. With over 250 different species flocking annually to the local waterways, it’s a bird lover and a photographers paradise.
Join us on a 1/2 or full-day tour, designed especially for bird lovers and take all the time you need to experience these exquisite creatures in their natural environment.
Departing the lodge in an airconditioned minivan, your expert tour guide will take you to the aptly named, Bird Billabong, where you can spot local species and an array of migratory birds, including Jabiru, Jacana and Ibis.
Stop at the Mary River Boat ramp on the way back to the lodge, for some more bird spotting and light refreshments.
½ day Guided Bird Watching Tour
Departing the lodge in an airconditioned minivan, your expert tour guide will take you to the aptly named, Bird Billabong, where you can spot local species and an array of migratory birds. Spend around 2 hours hiking and spotting, then transfer to Fogg Dam.
Fogg Dam is a world-class bird-watching destination, with Magpie Geese, Jabiru, Jacana, Ibis, Heron, Egrets and many more. Walk along the dam wall, where you can view the backdrop for over 250 species of birds, speckled throughout lush floodplains and paperbark.
Enjoy a picnic lunch before heading back with an optional stop at Adelaide River Floodplain.
