Grenville Turner is a professional photographer with more than 30 years experience behind the camera. Grenville is an experienced teacher, having conducted study tours for Sydney University plus numerous workshops and independent photography tours around the country. Grenville enjoys helping keen amateur photographers to take better pictures. This includes guidance in the field plus Lightroom, Photoshop and Photoshop Elements to become more proficient with image editing and printmaking.
The timing and order of this itinerary is subject to change, depending on light and weather conditions. The intention is to optimise the conditions each day and achieve the best possible results for all participants.
Day 1: Thursday, 19th April
Afternoon arrival. Check-in and meet in the Wildman Pavilion (adjacent to the main Lodge) for a briefing of the next few days. Before dinner head out to Leichhardt Point for pre-dinner drinks and to enjoy sunset over the wetlands.
Day 2: Friday, 20th April
Early morning Billabong Cruise and crocodile spotting before breakfast. 4WD tour in Mary River Wetlands National Park. Return to the Pavilion for afternoon and evening workshop tuition. Dinner in the Lodge restaurant.
Day 3: Saturday, 21st April
Following an early breakfast depart on a full day tour into Kakadu National Park. Capture the detail in the flora and fauna, in contrast to the vast and spectacular views of the Arnhemland escarpment. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the National Park. See some extraordinary and ancient Aboriginal rock art. Return to the Lodge for dinner this evening.
Day 4: Sunday, 22nd April
Following breakfast, today's guided tour will either be by foot or quad bike, depending on the condition. Discover the immediate surrounds of Wildman Wilderness Lodge with it's teeming wildlife, termite mounds, monsoon forests, mangroves and wetlands. Gain an insight into the ancient traditions from a Traditional Owner of this land. Return to the Lodge for lunch for an afternoon of tuition in the Pavilion before dinner. This evening Grenville will run through a side show of his own images and describe the techniques used in each shot. A great opportunity to pick up some last tips.
Day 5: Monday 23rd April
After breakfast, check out and depart the Lodge. Your journey back to Darwin will stop via Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve, an important refuge for wildlife and plenty of birdlife to photograph. Enjoy a picnic lunch before continuing on to Darwin.
